Biodiversity Informatics Training Curriculum
The BITC represents a long-term effort to open and share expertise to the broadest possible community of students and researchers desiring to learn about biodiversity science and biodiversity informatics. With funding from the JRS Biodiversity Foundation, the BITC carried out courses in nine African countries in 2012-2015, and a larger-scale course in 2019. The BITC also works in online dimensions, with a highly active YouTube channel that provides access to hundreds of instructional videos and courses. The BITC YouTune channel has received 380,000 views and 50,000 hours of viewing over its lifetime. BITC has also run a series of courses regarding ecological niche modeling (Spanish-language course available here, English-language course publication pending), and developed a broader curriculum for biodiversity informatics, available here.

The first generation of BITC work was co-directed with Kate Ingenloff, and the second (current) generation is being run by Erin Saupe.

The BITC is currently "between courses," and the current round of JRS support, is being funneled into supporting in-person visits by African students and researchers to leading labs in biodiversity informatics.
